V Lounge: Though I said farewell, I’ll never say goodbye…

Today marks a sad day in LA music history, as the South Bay’s V Lounge Records shuts its doors. Born out of a dream, the V Lounge blossomed in only 18 months, from a quiet pea in a pod into a garden full of sound and creativity! V built the studio with his own sweat and passion, and the people came.

I remember the first landmark session at V Lounge Records, in early 2006, when Trevor McShane and I wrote “Beautiful Summer” together. McShane’s version of the track will actually be featured on his forthcoming album, and I’m going to be releasing my own version before summer’s end.

What followed were a series of memorable improvised jams, co-writing sessions and rehearsals for shows, featuring many staggeringly talented local artists, including my friends Rob Grad, Arden Kaywin, and Jason Joseph.

For me personally, the V Lounge has been a source of inspiration and motivation. I wrote half of “Disappear”, a song that I promise you will be hearing a lot more of, in that room. I wrote “You Are My Dream”, a song that will be featured on the WE Network next month, in that room.

More important than the room itself, though, is the man behind the V Lounge. V is a man of many talents, driven by his passion to make great music and his desire to help artists present themselves in the best light possible. V is also one of my best friends, and I am sorry to see him moving to New York, but also so excited for him about the journey upon which he is embarking.

V is going to take New York City by storm, and I know that the V Lounge is going to be reborn there, bigger and better than before, and that the original V Lounge will also return to its glory in due time. V, you’re a man who never thought of running; your feet just led the way. I wish you nothing but the best, and I can’t wait to see what we create together in V Lounge East.

Here are a couple of videos we shot at V Lounge:
